Description

Osgood-Schlatter disease is a condition characterized by pain and swelling below the knee joint, specifically at the tibial tuberosity where the patellar tendon attaches to the shinbone. This condition is commonly seen in young athletes who engage in sports involving jumping or running. The underlying cause of Osgood-Schlatter disease is irritation of the bone growth plate, which is made of cartilage and located at the ends of the bone near the joint. As children are still growing, the cartilage growth plate is not as strong as bone and can become painful and swollen when subjected to high levels of stress. Massage Therapy can be a beneficial treatment for Osgood-Schlatter disease. Specifically, massaging the quadriceps muscles located at the front of the thigh can help to relax the muscle, reducing tension and force on the attachment point at the tibial tuberosity. This is where the inflammation and pain associated with this condition are typically located. Wondering what service option is best for treating Osgood-Schlatter disease?
